Today we saw Petra. Petra means 'rock' in Greek so it's a fitting name seeing as the whole city (well, almost) is carved out of it. We saw the Treasury and the palace of the Pharaoh's Daughter, both misnomers coming from Bedouin tales about the Pharaoh of Egypt going after the Israelites. The next day we saw the Monastery which I liked best. Its name is probably a misnomer as well and was, more likely, a temple. The Monastery facade is 48 by 40 something metres and the doorway alone is taller than a house. Some crazy person decided they fancied a climb and climbed around the top a bit and came to stand triumphantly on the very top. The Monastery was quite impressive but Papa liked the Treasury best. He thinks the proportions make it look better.

In Egypt, it's just as warm as when we left Canaidia. Me thinks that this marks a great tragedy that will befall this place, for why else would the temperature be so unseasonly?..for Canaidia.
The temperatures are different here. That's probably why we are going to the beach instead of the snow fort. Yesterday we came into Egypt on a fairy. Oops! Not that kind of fairy. We came into Egypt on a ferry. That kind of ferry. A boat. Then we took a bus to Dahab.
Then we made a big choice about witch hotel to stay at. NOT that kind of witch. We had to decide to stay a the hotel our friend from the bus was staying at or the 7 Heaven Hotel. We ended up staying with our bus friend. His name is Simon. Also staying at the El Salam Camp and Restaurant are a cat and a dog and a litter of puppies! The cat's name is Smartie and he really likes affection. He likes it when I carry him around too. He purrs a lot. The dog's name I don't know but the litter is hers. There used to be eight, no, seven puppies in the litter but two died so there are only five now. One died the day we came to Dahab. Apparently one day he was really sick and the next day he was really quiet.
There is a nice courtyard and internet that either doesn't work or Papa doesn't know the password.
We might do some snorkelling and swimming here it's so warm. Mama's changing into her swimsuit as I write!
