In Rome...

We have only been in Rome for two days but we have already seen so much! Every thing here looks old. And big. We took a walk yesterday and saw a very very big old wall. All the apartment buildings near us are connected together so they look like one six-story apartment building. The Colosseum is colossal. It took us almost a day to walk around it! No, thats not true. It took us almost five minutes to walk around it! We didn't visit it then but we are going to visit it tomorrow. We then took a two hour walk to Castel Sant' Angelo. We took a tour of the Castel and learned from our audio guide that Hadrian built it as mausoleum to hold his ashes but then much later the popes took it over and hid in it when Rome was under seige and they could possibly be in danger. There were little troughs along the wall so that the Roman solders could pour burning oil on the attackers. There's lots to see in Rome.
